Mike sat down in the smoky club one autumn night. The sound of people and music filled the air. Everyone was dancing, everyone except a dark haired girl in the corner of the bar. Mike wondered to himself why such a pretty girl wasn't with anyone. He decided to find out why.
As he made his way over to her, he noticed how much more beautiful she was up close. He finally reached the bar and began to speak.
"Excuse me, Is this seat taken?"
She replied with a small, abrupt "No."
Mike looked deep into her beautiful dark eyes. He sat down and began to make conversation.
"Uh, My name's Mike, Mike Nesmith. What's yours?" He started uneasy.
"Neffie."
Michael thought What an unusual name for a girl. Yet, she looked familiar to him.
"Neffie? That's a real purdy name." His Texas accent twanged.
"Thanks." She replied. "So, where ya from?"
"Texas. Around Houston. You?"
"Oh my God! So am I!" She enthused, the accent becoming clearer.
"Really? That's groovy!"
They chatted for what seemed like an eternity. They talked of home, what they were doing in California, and what they wanted to be. They had A LOT of similarities. Mike, then, remembered where he had seen her ... the halls of the high school, only her name was Mandi. He didn't bother asking her why she changed her name. He liked Neffie better. When it was time for the club to close, Mike walked Neffie home.
"Wait, you live here?!" Mike shockingly asked, realizing they had walked right to the house just before the pad he shared with his friends and bandmates.
"Yes, ... and for your information, the reason why I was alone in the club was because Davy just broke up with me." Neffie replied, laughing a bit.
"No way?! He broke up with you?! You're too purdy to break up with. I know if I was dating you..." His voice trailed off realizing what he was saying.
"If you were dating me, what?" Neffie acknowledged.
"Well, I would never break up with you. You're too perfect." Mike shuffled his feet, nervously replying.
"what?" Neffie's eyes widened.
"Yea. Would you go out with me?" He asked, still nervous.
"SURE!" Neffie replied, extremely happy. She had fallen in love with Mike.
Neffie and Mike were very happy together. they loved being with each other. She came to every rehearsal and they lived happily ever after.
